The Southwestern Arched Gate

The Southwestern Arched Gate on the Dome of the Rock's platform is one of the three gate located on the west side of the platform. It is located at the southwest corner of the platform next to Madrasah al-Nahwiyah.

It has 3 arches supported by 2 stone columns and 2 marble columns. There are 24 staircases leading up to the arched gate.

It was built during Mamluk era in 877 H/1472 M during Sultan al-Asyraf Qaitbay reign as described by the inscription on the arched gate.
